Litman “Jean”
Age 101, of St. Paul, passed away August 19, 2014 and born in Duluth on June
6, 1913. Preceded in death by husband, Aaron Litman; parents, Lena &
Nathan Schneider; daughter, Joanne Levin; sister, Esther Ruder; brother,
Bernard Schneider. Survived by daughter, Marcia (Charles) Lavine;
grandchildren, David Levin, Anne (Howie) Adelstein, Jonathan Lavine, Jessica
Lavine, Anita (Joe Turcotte) Lavine, and Joshua (Anne) Lavine; 11 wonderful
and loving great-grandchildren; nieces, Carol Gurstelle and Sybil (Paul)
Silverstein; nephew, Arthur (Elaine) Ruder and cousin, Barbara Kaster. Jean
worked with her husband at their newspaper, White Bear Press and later for
the Ramsey County Welfare Department. Volunteered at the M.S. Society and
Travelers Assistance at the airport until she was in her 90’s. She was
resilient, spirited, loving, smart, determined, undaunted, without guile,
funny, curious, and a role model to many. Funeral service 2 pm FRIDAY at
MOUNT ZION TEMPLE, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul. Memorials preferred to
Jeanette Litman Endowment for Senior Programs-St. Paul JCC. Or Joanne Levin
Endowment-M.S. Society. SHIVA, 6:30 pm Saturday at Sholom Home East, 740 Kay
Ave., St. Paul.
